Piggies Are Here! Nov 2023
Friday, Nov. 25 the first animals arrived at Good Nature Farm Co.!
We got our first 4 piggies from Roads End Farm in Danville, PA. They pasture raise, so good news, the piglets are already familiar with electric fencing. ππΌ We opted to not deworm them before we took themβ¦will we regret that?? Not sure. π€·π»ββοΈ Our thought is we can deworm if they start showing signs of needing it.
We used 2 Large size dog crates to transport, and strapped them down in the back of the truck, so they didnβt slide all over the place.
Our goal is to train these piggies on our electric fencing in the pen then move them back outside once we are confident they respect the fence.

First 2 piggies in their dog crate, in the back of the truck. It was a 20 min, non-highway trip, relatively warm day from their home to our farm, so we didn't feel the need to cover or add bedding.

SO EXCITED WE HAVE PIGS!! They went right to the area that wasn't covered in straw and just started sniffing around.

Farmer Karl reintroducing himself to the piggies. Nice thing getting them from a farm that has "handled" them some is that they are pretty friendly.

We had to make an indoor pig feeder out of a 55 gl barrel. (Got for $10 off of FBMkt!!π) Come to find out we may have cut the hole to large 'cause later that night when we checked-in, one was sleeping in it! π¬π

Farmer Karl breaking-in his new Carhartt's with some pig-π©! Also got to use his hammer holder too! π

Piggies after rooting around for about a 1/2 hr and finding the food and waterer, settled in for a nice little snoozel. β€οΈβ€οΈ
